Within his first 6 years at Mars Confectionary Simon was appointment to Marketing Director and soon moved into various Managing Director positions. In Russia he led the onshore start-up of Cadbury Schweppes in a fast-changing emerging market, dealing with challenging conditions including an overnight currency devaluation of 75%. In Poland he led the post acquisition merger and turnaround of 2 businesses across Eastern Europe. Moving back to the UK, Simon’s Managing Director roles focussed on growing large-scale enterprises through significant strategic transformations.
Poignant leadership moments for Simon include the lasting pride of his polish team when growing Wedel rather than rebranding as Cadbury, and providing Olympic experiences to all 4500 employees at Coke.
Simon is an Investor and Director of a small portfolio of start-ups and early stage businesses with other investors who have been assembled to make acquisitions. Although primarily focussed on food and drink, he also has investments in office products and asset maintenance software.
In all these businesses he is a shareholder, member of the Board and provides strategic leadership and oversight with a shared goal to grow and expand these businesses to create value for future sale.
