Lawrence brings comprehensive experience from a wide variety of roles with Barclays for almost forty years. These include Global COO for the Private Back and Company Secretary, Chief of Staff and running the Strategy and Planning Department. His insight draws on his time as Chief of Staff for two CEOs. He led the internal Corporate Finance team, initiating and project-managing the £5b acquisition of the Woolwich. He also implemented a value-based management system and a new method of internal capital allocation and managed the recruitment of three chairmen and one CEO alongside market-leading corporate governance practices.
Since stepping back from full-time corporate life Lawrence enjoys his roles as a trustee and chair of the audit committee of the Barclays Pension Fund which has c.£30bn in assets. Additionally, he is a Director of Barclays Private Bank in Switzerland and chairs its audit committee.
