For over 25 years Claire has worked with senior leaders and intact teams to develop their skills in the art of holding challenging conversations to move their people and business forward.


Claire believes having the right conversations at the right time leads to more effective relationships, increased clarity and strategic alignment. She is an expert in holding challenging conversations, building influencing skills, handling change and developing self-awareness.

Style / Approach

Claire takes a content-based coaching approach to support leaders. For time-poor executives she adopts a condensed bespoke style around a specific area with one or two key tools explored as a fast track to improved confidence and competence. For others, she designs group sessions around challenging conversations, either standalone or integrated within business processes, such as performance reviews, or within larger leadership programmes. Challenges presented typically range from career ambitions to leading teams in ambiguous circumstances, managing difficult behaviours, influencing external or internal stakeholders or role transition support. Her trademark is pragmatism – any intervention needs to have a practical application both now and be sustainable for the future.

Coaching Experience

Claire has worked with many clients for over 10 years in both the public and private sector. She has coached in a variety of sectors including legal, pharmaceutical, financial. oil and gas, telecoms, manufacturing, retail, construction, charities and many large government clients. She makes a conscious effort to keep her client base wider in order to explore and share best practice and avoid conflicts of interest. Many of her clients have a global reach and some of these she coaches virtually. Claire is adept at an understanding how messages can land differently in different cultures within the same organisation.


Qualifications and background

Claire’s career was spent in senior HR positions in BUPA and as a senior consultant for PricewatershouseCoopers. She is a graduate from Durham university, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a licensed practitioner of MBTI steps I and II, SDI, Positive Organisational Politics, Temperaments, Interactions and Function Attitudes.
