An experienced CEO and Board Director with an impressive track record across the retail sector. Belinda brings executive Board and CEO experience of PLC, private and CIC Boards. She has chaired a private equity owned business and a sector skills council as well as being part of a commission. Having worked at Board level as both an employee and a consultant, she has a broad knowledge of different leadership styles and skills.

Career history

After beginning her career at Harrods Belinda held senior positions in Debenhams and was appointed a Director in 1991. In 1998 she became a Trading Director responsible for Homeware, Cosmetics and Designers. She joined the Board of Debenhams PLC in 1999 and held a position of Chief Executive from 2000-2003.

As Chief Executive of Jaeger for 7 years, Belinda increased its online presence in the UK and internationally with over 140 shops during her tenure.

Joining Marks and Spencer in 2012 as Style Director, she worked with the leadership team on the direction of Clothing and Home, involved in buying, design, digital, retail, PR and marketing. She was appointed to the Management Board of Marks and Spencer in 2015.

Belinda chaired the Board of Alex and Alexa, the online destination for luxury children’s wear, as well as Positive Fashion, a key pillar of the British Fashion Council. She continues to be a member of their current committee.

Current Portfolio

Belinda is a non executive director of Woolworths Holding Limited – the multinational retailer which owns the South African retailer, Woolworths and the Australian department store chain, David Jones and the Country Road Group.

Since more recently embarking on a non executive career, she now sits on an international PLC board, along with committees in sustainability, risk and compliance. She is also on a newly formed education board.

Belinda has mentored senior managers for the last three years across a number of different sectors.
