Barbara is an HR leader who has extensive experience of managing HR functions globally in the financial and insurance service sectors. Developing global strategies and leading large teams of up to 1300, she is also a Board member.

Barbara began her career as Personnel Director for Union Bank of Switzerland and then became Head of Career Development for Europe.
When she moved to ABN Amro Bank, She swiftly became Global Head and Head of People and Organisational Development. She delivered global HR support to traded markets and fixed income capital markets and lead people and organisational development initiatives across global markets.
At NYSE Technologies Ltd, Barbara led the strategic delivery over 1300 staff worldwide and reported in to the Chief Executive.
Barbara has now landed at Canopius and is responsible for the full HR, comms and marketing strategy across the group. As well as reporting in to the Chief Executive she is also a member of the Executive Committee and a Board member of Canopius Managing Agents.
Barbara is currently responsible for full HR, communication and marketing strategy across 7 countries at Canopius.
Over the 6 and a half years in the role I have led:
- sale of the company to Japanese insurer Sompo
- major offshoring programme to reduce headcount by 100 with significant savings
- the merger with another large Lloyds syndicate to become the 3rd largest syndicate at Lloyds
- a major culture shift in the organisation – introducing an inclusive culture to Canopius
