The Aziz Programme
The Aziz Corporation provided a half-day 3-hour session for 70 of the Estate Managers. Khalid Aziz had met with Julie Vivian, National Personnel & Training Manager, and her team prior to the training session to brainstorm issues and ensure that the training was as targeted as possible.
The training focused on issues and scenarios that the participants face on an almost daily basis. Managers took part in role-plays – taking the parts of both themselves and residents in everyday situations.
“Health and Safety in particular is a difficult area for us to cover. While there is a legal requirement for the Estate Managers to comply, unfortunately this leads to a cost to the residents. The Aziz Corporation showed us the best way to “sell” these H&S costs to the residents, such as the need to test the homes’ water tanks for Legionnaires disease, which means they now understand exactly where their money is going.”
The Aziz Corporation’s training won over many long standing Peverel employees, several of whom had reservations about the benefits of the training, feeling they had ‘been there, and done this’ all before. They were actually swayed without realising it, thanks to an opening presentation, which offered targeted advice and covered subject matter they recognised, understood and identified with.
Julie Vivian added:

The role-playing exercises were particularly beneficial, with participants learning a lot from a reversal of roles, with them taking the part of characters they knew, namely, the more ‘difficult’ residents. By videoing the session Khalid was able to supply critiques on individual performances and demonstrate how communications could be improved.”
