Compass Group plc is a world-leading food and support services company whose history can be traced back over 60 years. As a FTSE 100 listed company they generated annual revenue of £22.6 billion in the year to 30 September 2017. They operate in around 50 countries, employ over 550,000 dedicated people and serve more that 5.5 billion meals a year.

Andrew Martin served as the Group Finance Director from 2004 to 2011, then as Chief Operating Officer, Europe and Japan. He now serves as Non-Executive Director for John Lewis Partnership plc.

 

CHALLENGE

Andrew Martin joined Compass Group in 2004 at a time when the company was under much investor pressure. His job was not only to overhaul the group’s financial reporting but also to communicate both the group’s plans and results with transparency.

Andrew had to get his early results presentations right and ensured that from the start he was seen as a safe pair of hands for Compass shareholders to trust.
