This tutorial is not about the clichés and foreign stereotypes so often bandied around on cross cultural communication workshops – it is about developing a strategic and sensitive approach to dealing with cross-cultural communication issues. Each session typically includes: • Understanding of the ‘Universal Person’ model – what we all have in common • Understanding your own personality/stand point and how this impacts your cross cultural communication style • The dangers of stereotyping and how we ‘model’ other cultures • How to differentiate between culture-specific and culture-generic communication styles in the quest for becoming an international leader • Recognising your cross cultural communications strengths and weaknesses with non-native speakers • How to be clear, convincing and authentic in your communications
